I am considering moving to San Antonio, from California. I live about an hour from SF, and spend my weekends up there.
We all know that California to Texas is definitely super different, a lot more open-minded, relaxed, etc. Not to put you guys down!! <3<3
I am just hoping to meet some vegan, conscious, crazies just like myself..
Are you out there?
What kind of events happen there...

Wed, October 14, 2009 - 4:22 AMDon't know about San Antonio but Austin is an oasis of consciousness. If you know Shayen (I think he is traveling through there atm) drop him a line and ask him about it.

Re: Considering moving to San Antonio from Santa Cruz California. BIG CHANGE.
Wed, October 14, 2009 - 8:47 AMLOL, it's interesting when people from Cali talk about Texas- they're such huge states, the idea there's any cohesiveness of style or personality strikes me as funny! That said, I have personally found people in Texas to be reliably more friendly and approachable and people in Cali to be a bit cold and stand-offish!! Not everyone, but there's definitely a pattern in my own experiences! I don't think I saw a single person smile the five days I was in LA. No offense- I love the Bay Area, California is beautiful, and most of the Californians I've met are wonderful! I'll totally visit again soon!
Austin is LE AWESOME, no question. I love Austin and every time I visit it's a delight. You're certain to find like minds and plenty of social connection in Austin- it's many of the best parts of California coupled with many of the best parts of Texas!
I know Burners from San Antonio, but I don't think it's got much of a collective presence. Austin, on the other hand, hosts the largest BM Regional, Flipside, which is some of the most awesomeness I've ever enjoyed! There's a rich Burn scene, a music scene that will rocks your socks off, and the Hill Country's natural beauty is fabulous!
Anyway, not to dis anybody- I love my state, and I get a little defensive! Epiphany, you may have noticed there's not alot of traffic here- you might ask what the Austin Burn list info is, and try and interact with folks there- your chances will improve! Most Texans left Tribe awhile back when there was so much downtime!
Happy-trailsingly, Best-wishingly, and Love-and-Lightingly,
Major Tom
