Hi Texan burners,

Gearing up for my 1st regional ever while the playa dust is still fresh on my backpack. I could really use a ride up north, as I'm sans car these days, though I have bought my ticket already and will get up there somehow, even if it means Greyhound/hitching. I'd be pleased as a plum to befriend a burner and head up with them. Could it be you? I travel compactly, essentially with my backpack, so I won't take up much space, and am very flexible as to departure, out dates. Somebody from Austin surely must be going that way. Please get in touch ASAP. benharing@gmail.com. 210.442.9629 w/ a text. Play for peace. Ben c;

    Benjamin, you might be out of luck- there's a competing event in Austin that's diluting our A-town attendance (no offense and best wishes to those who can't make it- I'm sure ya'll will have fun too!)

    In any event, assuming you're talking about MYSCHIEVIA, (I see you've posted to the rideshare wiki: www.ntxb.org/volunteer/tiki-index.php ) you might try contacting the folks shipping the Freak (Flipside's effigy) up this way- I'm sure they could use the help, and there might be room in the truck. Anyone know who Ben could/should contact?

    Hopefully-seeing-you-at-Myschieviaingly,
    Major Tom

      Out of luck, grrr. Major Tom, I am indeed heading to Myschevia, though I guess I neglected that in my message. If worse comes to worse, it may mean my Greyhounding it to Dallas and getting a ride from there. I can't believe out of one of the more burner saturated cities, nobody's going to a major regional...

        Yeah, Austin planned a competing event, but honestly I think the real issue is that having hosted and built the TEMPLE for Burning Man, most of our A-town Burneyfolk are SPENT- and understandably so! No worries, we'll still have an awesome Myschievia, and realistically, how many of our southern brethren have ever made it to our event- maybe 40 at MOST. Long have we hoped to have a solid A-town presence, but it's a long drive, and there's so much to do there, I'm unsurprised it's a challenge to get people to come in droves.

        Greyhound it, mon frer, and let me know if you need a lift, and I'll try and help out. Hanging your hopes on Austin you might miss the fun!

        Invitingly and Hopingly,
        Major Tom

          Also...be sure to post to the austin-chat email list. Tribe is a bit on the dead side these days. You can find the email list through burningflipside.com if you're not already on it.
