I'm the tall one from Dallas who didn't bring any food or water and didn't bother setting up his shelter. Thanks for your hospitality and whatnot. You're a great group of people (and lots of fun). Thank you!

Re: Thanks Red Camp
Thu, May 29, 2008 - 12:02 PMI had my first two experiences at Red Camp and they rocked. I had no idea.
I was forced to face my social anxiety that has developed from hiding in the safe, disturbing bowels of C.O.L.D.
I've walked past for years, I won't ever do that again. Sorry that I brought C.O.L.D. agents in, but they were the calmer ones. The rowdier ones are still scared to cross your boundries. Even they have social anxiety sometimes, which in this case is a blessing.

Re: Thanks Red Camp
Thu, June 5, 2008 - 1:03 PMIf Flipside was a pagent show, Red Camp would always win Miss Congeniality. You have always been the most hospitable bunch to old friends as well as newcomers. As soon as one enters into the red womb your heart breaks open with happiness. Thanks again for all the good times! -

Re: Thanks Red Camp
Sat, June 28, 2008 - 8:48 AMI wish your camp was as cool as you guys are. Sometimes it's too chill. Next time, you should fill out a brothel and beverage distribution permit before setting up if you're going to "do the same thing you did last year". We'll get you a permit to display. -

Re: Thanks Red Camp
Wed, July 2, 2008 - 1:19 PMOur founder (RedTony) can correct me if I am wrong on any of this but our camp is supposed to be a chill and welcoming space, sort of a place where you can escape for a bit. It can also be considered an art installation that changes as its occupants change....
And in case you missed it, among several new things we did this year, the BIG NEW thing we did was "Dr. Tiki's Medicine Show" -- it was Saturday night on the Effigy Stage -- it was a completely original script and all of the songs were completely original except for the Beatles song at the end. Most of our camp was involved and believe me when I tell you that our blood, sweat and tears went into it.
We also had a wish tree and an art collage station and several jam sessions (many of our campers are very gifted musicians).
Maybe you didn't know those things or else in the end you aren't that jazzed about our camp. That's okay, no one is telling you you have to spend time there. We know we are not going to please everyone. :-)
Peace, Maya

Re: Thanks Red Camp
Wed, July 2, 2008 - 2:47 PMI sent this to you personally, but just in case there's anyone else without a sense of humor :) :
> i just felt like i had to defend my peeps b/c
> you have no idea how much work (and $$) we put
> into our camp
Actually, I do. I have my own theme camp and just about everything that gets put into it comes out of my pocket and 99% of the work comes from me or my wife.
> and we really do go the extra mile to make
> people feel welcome
Yeah, we know. Some of those people who feel welcome are those of us with DOOM.
> i see you are friends with Jana and Carrin, some
> of my favorite peeps, so you can't be all bad
You should also see that I am friends with Tony, Redcamper (Chris?), Doug Notfunnyatall, Deanna and several other prominent Red Campers. :) These guys are awesome enough to handle a little razzin' now and then.
I also know that Tony and Chris share some of the same preferences as I do, and it's fun to NOT be chill now and then. I was just referencing a short conversation I had with Tony at our party at our house a few weekends ago when I said Red Camp was too chill. I *love* to chill in RedCamp most of the time, but it just didn't quite work out this year.
And I certainly enjoyed the opportunity to tell my version of the RedCamp/Hippies/Elephant story that Tony (?) had illustrated when I was there.
Just remember that blood & gore, Communism, and the Nazi flag are Red too.
We just play a little more harshly where we come from.
> hopefully we will meet sometime
> cheers, Maya
I think we *have* met at one of Deanna's parties. :) -

Wed, July 2, 2008 - 2:53 PMFrom my observations, Princess just likes poking people (and anthills) with sticks!! I don't think he really means offense (but maybe I'm just a pollyanna!!) And the fact that he actually posted a clarification here is a real honor- he normally hails from the juck 'em if they can't take a foke philosophy!!

Re: Thanks Red Camp
Wed, July 2, 2008 - 3:57 PMI don't take offense, I give it. :)
You're right though, but it IS difficult sometimes to read people over these forums and sometimes a clarification is in order. For instance, I thought my Myscheivia moves to Thanksgiving thread was HILARIOUS, especially when Geo told me people had been emailing her to ask if it really HAD moved- that is, UNTIL Nurse Deb said she was confused and didn't think it was funny. That made me sad, because Nurse Deb helped me make sure I didn't lose an eye... -

Fri, August 8, 2008 - 9:18 PMPatrick - bring your scaffolding ... I *MAY* let youthrough the gate if it includes Tesla coils and musicians ... otherwise you will need to worship gate lead (theoretically of course)..
And ...food for thought ... how can we get tesla coils AND a DPW fire throwing tower to East Texas?
Inquiring minds wanna know ...
And the condoms are right ... camp SEX.ON.THE.HOUR.COM is within the Camp Cabbage village ... don't camp too close or you may get slimed! -
